DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday October 9th\, VPRO Medialab will host the event Publieke Pioniers: How can AI sustain us? \nLike other sectors in industry and society\, public broadcasters face the challenge of becoming more sustainable and reducing their ecological footprint. What if we tackle this challenge head-on and begin the transformation at the very core of the media ecosystem? What would radically sustainable public media look like? What opportunities does artificial intelligence\, Gen or otherwise\, offer? \nPublic broadcasters are already working on sustainability through tools like Albert\, which calculates the carbon footprint of a production. This is a good start\, but the tool introduces sustainability considerations relatively late in the traditional media production process\, where maintaining quality and journalistic integrity remains paramount. Moreover\, the entire ecosystem of public media has shifted with the rise of social media and again with the rapid growth of AI. It’s time to engage everyone and explore new possibilities\, formats\, and platforms where sustainability is a core value… sustainability by design in the media. \nDuring this session\, everyone can come together and explore how public broadcasters can use AI to become more sustainable. \nAs a part of this programme\, Society 5.0 Festival will also host a two-day Hackathon by VPRO Medialab on 9th and 10th October\, where students will dive into this topic and hack their own solutions. \nThis event is  Dutch spoken
