Join our first Rottech community night on ChatGPT. Together we’ll dive into this hot AI tool, put it to the limit and get to know other developers. Show off your prompting skills, link GPT to Wolfram Alpha with LangChain, demo an API implementation or come up with an UX improvement. The evening will follow the logic of open space technology, which means we’ll to set up the structure and goals of the evening together. We already know there’s interest in Andrey Karpathy’s building GPT from scratch (“what I can’t make, I don’t understand” – right?) and the GPT Index project, which aims to combine the power of a generic language model such as ChatGPT to a custom corpus of knowledge. What else do you have on your mind? Bring your own dinner, your own device, your own ideas and join us in the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences Stadslab.

Public Pioneers #3: Keeping it real

It is expected that within the next few years 95% of media content with be fully or partially synthetic, produced with generative AI. What does it mean when media no longer represent but generate reality? Is there such a thing as Synthetic Truth? How do we retain a shared reality when everyone can instantly generate their own version?

Generative tools like ChatGPT, Midjourney and Stable Diffusion enable not only professional creators to push creative boundaries, but also “those formerly known as the audience. In Public Pioneers #3, we therefore focus on the creative triangle between professional media creators, public AI pioneers and Generative AI tools as a third entity. Together we explore how generative AI can be used to tell new stories, and get a better grip on creative uses of synthetic media. Synthetic media for good.

Two day hackathon in Beeld & Geluid in Den Haag

On November 29 and 30, the VPRO Medialab in collaboration with NPO Innovation, trainees from the Digital Society School and Beeld & Geluid in Den Haag will dive into the synthetic world of Generative AI. Are you a media-maker/podcaster/artist/designer/AI-coder/TikTokker/thinker/doer … sign up for the two-day hackathon Public Pioneers#3: Keeping it Real.

Under the guidance of our coaches, participants will work on concepts and prototypes in about six teams to pitch them in the Open Demos at the end of the second day. This time no expert jury but a ‘sharktank’ of broadcasters and public institutions that can adopt projects. So win-win-win…
